Sunil Gavaskar Makes Big Statement After Another Cheteshwar Pujara-Ajinkya Rahane Flop Show in India vs South Africa 2nd Test

Former India captain and  great Sunil Gavaskar  said there may be another chance for struggling Indian veterans Cheteshwar Pujar and Ajinkya Rahan to "save a trial career". Gavaskar said in a commentary after Pujara and Rahan left a series of deliveries from Duanne Olivier's bowling alley during the first session game of the first day  of the second test match between India and South Africa in Johannesburg.
Pujara fired 3 of 33 pitches when Olivier knocked out a short delivery outside the stump where his bat hit Pujara's shoulder. The ball swung through the air and Temba Bavuma caught it with ease. It looked like a helpless attempt by an anxious batter. Already on  the  next serve, Rahan uncertainly pushed the stump, but Keegan Petersen caught him on the third mistake. He longed for a golden duck.
Gavaskar had questions  about their place in the  XI game after repeated setbacks, hinting that the second serve of this match could be their last chance to show they deserve to play ahead of  players like Shreyas Iyer.
"After these two layoffs, I can say that  both Pujara and Rahan have a chance to get a test career," Gavaskar said.
“There was a question about their place on the team and now with these two cleanups they only have  one inning left. The former captain of the Indian national team said, "There is only one more inning, and if India goes, I think there will be one more."
Khanuma Vihari replaced captain Virat Kohli in the  XI game in the second test after Kohli was eliminated with an upper back spasm.

Pu Jara hasn't been on a probationary period since January 2019, while Rahan hasn't been in good shape, moderately speaking, over the past year or so.
